Gea e la luce

Brunivio Buttarelli, 2010

The work, made of iron and marble in 2010, represents a spiral tower from within which intense light emanates, creating with it a link between earth and sky. Starting from absolutely natural elements, such as earth and light, the
sculpture symbolizes not only the path of man’s earthly existence, but also the
ascent to heaven that the latter makes once the crossing of the spiral is
completed.

The work depicts a tower on a small rise that gives off an intense beam of light
projected toward the sky. To enter the tower, one travels along a spiral path
that represents man’s ascent to heaven. Gaea and the Light is like a door that connects earth, sky and man through light.
